2017 Robbie Ashworth Scholarship Recpient

On Saturday, July 8th, the Lakeside Hurricanes hosted the Robbie Ashworth Challenge - "Splash for Cash." During this event as well as other fundraising efforts this season, participants and sponsors raised money to supply a scholarship for a graduating senior of LSRC Hurricanes. It is the "Splash for Cash" that funds the Robbie Ashworth Memorial Scholarship each year and provides for a donation to Children’s Hospital.

During the swim team's championship banquet on July 28, the 2017 college scholarship was awarded to Jordan Womack, a senior Hurricane swimmer who has been swimming for the Hurricanes for nine years.

Jordan graduated from Hermitage High School in the top 14 of her class with multiple honors. While at Hermitage, she was a member of the Hermitage Marching Panthers for 4 years and was Drum Major her Junior and Senior year. Jordan was also a member of the Hermitage Symphonic Band as well as the All-County and All-District Band during all 4 years in high school. Jordan has played with numerous band ensembles outside of school including the U.S. Marine Corps Band and the Central Virginia Wind Symphony. In 2017, Jordan won the prestigious John Philip Sousa Band Award which recognizes superior musicianship and outstanding dedication to the top band student and the Semper Fidelis Award which is an award given by the United States Marines Youth Foundation to high school band students who demonstrate musical excellence. Jordan will be continuing her studies at James Madison University and will be a member of the Marching Royal Dukes

Alli Prior 2016 Scholarship Recipient

On Saturday, June 25th, the Lakeside Hurricanes hosted the Robbie Ashworth Challenge - "Splash for Cash." During this event as well as other fundraising efforts this season, participants and sponsors raised over $1,300, which is an excellent accomplishment for the competitors and all who supported this cause. It is the "Splash for Cash" that funds the Robbie Ashworth Memorial Scholarship each year and provides for a donation to Children’s Hospital.

During the swim team's championship banquet on July 29th, the 2016 college scholarship was awarded to Allison Pryor, a senior Hurricane swimmer who has been swimming for the Hurricanes for several seasons. Congratulations to Allison on her swimming accomplishments and winning the scholarship. For complete information about the scholarship, refer to the document that follows.  

Alli was also the Hurricanes 2016 Mite Coach.  Coach Alli has been swimming with Lakeside for about 14 years, Shady Grove YMCA, followed by Tritons, the YMCA year round team, the BAC which has merged with Poseidon becoming Poseidon-Hanover, currently swims and studies at the University of Mary Washington. Graduated from Hermitage High School Humanities specialty center with multiple honors clubs and extracurricular activities.
